Imperial German Firefighters Helmet

My neighbors visited germany in about 1970 and brought this helmet back for me. The medallion on the front features the traditional axe, ladder and helmet symbol of firefighters. The inscription reads dem nachsten zur wehr gott zur ehr which i believe translates to next to the edfense honest to god. The helmet is in very good condition, with one missing brass rivet as pictured.
