German Model 189805 Butcher Blade Bayonet SawbackThis is a wwi german m98/05 sawbakc bayonet maker marked. (weyersberg kirshbaum & cie) the spine hsa a crowned w over '16 that dates production in 1916. Also there are two cipher marks on pommel. On the tip of hte scabbard there is another one. The pioneer troops were the only recipients of the aswback bayonet. Over all this is a nice sturdy bayonet. It is not over all mint. But it is a honest un-fooled with wwi bayonet. The catch works flawlessly. The blade is in excellent condition, with an original arsenal bright steel finish it has been slightly sharpened, with no nicks in the blade. Saw teeht are sharp and in excellent condition. The guard, and pommel have a nice even grayish/brown patina with a few idngs on the back shield of the grip from being carried. Wood grips are in good condition with the usual dings and scratches that are found on bayonets that were used during the war. The blued scabbard has also a few dings and scuffs however, it is sturdy and complete with spring and stud intact, over all this is a nice honest wwi relic with no major problems.I try my best to describe these relics so is there no problesm later. You are not getting a mint bayonet. What you are getting is a correctly described bayonet from a long time and honest ebay seller. |
